Speeding through life in a silver shell
With the wind blowing past causing suffocation;
Shaking from a chill that burns as it comes
Yet warm from the thrill of the ride.
Above, the stars are shining with a smile,
As if to say life's worth living.
Wrapped up in the melody of the skies and the road
I join my voice with theirs...and laugh.
A smile breaks forth, indiscernible in the darkness,
Yet all the more real because unseen.
Insincerity gone and reality present,
The numbness gives way to a tingling sensation
Of speed and light and sound rushing by
On the way I take tonight.
